By 42, I had the body of a lifelong athlete… and the pain, fatigue, and stubborn belly fat of a man who’d given up - even though I was still doing “everything right.”
42 year old me was at rock bottom, BUT NOT FOR LONG ===>

I grew up on football fields, wrestling mats, track lanes, and under barbells. I lived in the gym. That became my career: certified personal trainer in 1999, big-box gyms first (where real nutrition was off-limits - and most trainers didn’t know it anyway), then in-home training, and eventually my own small-group studio.
For just over 10 years (2009–2019), we ran wildly popular 6-week transformation challenges. We helped 1,000+ clients drop weight fast - 10–36 lbs in just 6 weeks.
But something didn’t sit right.
Most people gained it back.

Meanwhile, from 2005-2012, I competed in amateur bodybuilding. Long strength sessions. Long cardio. Chicken, yams, broccoli on repeat. Macro math. Constant under-eating.
I’d white-knuckle cravings… cave… binge… feel guilty… then call it “bulking” while I got bloated and soft.
Then I’d start the grind again.
I tried intermittent fasting. Better energy. Less obsession. Still not the kind of results that lasted.




After I closed my studio - burned out from 16-hour days and barely taking time off, I hit the wall at 42.
Old sports injuries roared back. Joint pain daily. My workouts losing steam. I was bloated, exhausted, confidence shot, and unmotivated… and for the first time in my life, I was quietly questioning myself.
I had two choices: accept that life declines after 40… or fight back.
So I went deep into evolutionary nutrition and ancestral health. I stripped everything down to what made biological sense for men.


In 12 weeks, eating to full satiety every day, I dropped 24 pounds of fat. Inflammation plummeted. Pain faded. Energy surged. My confidence and my sense of purpose came back.
That was the start of The Primal Shred Protocol - built on sustainable animal-based nutrition, efficient strength training (just 3 days a week), hormone optimization, and the missing pieces I’d seen for years: mindset, accountability, and brotherhood.
Because fat loss isn’t the hard part.
Making it stick is.
